ONE DAY ITINERARY IN SEATTLE, WASHINGTON - DAY 1/2 PT. II

Not all who wander are lost, but in our case, we got lost. Literally.

After driving away from the city to unleash our own Archie and Veronica, we went back to where we were staying to leave our rental car and just uber from there on. In this manner, we were able to save a couple of bucks cause there is no way we would find free parking around downtown. Not to mention the hassle of navigating through one ways, a gazillion of traffic signs and add to that ignorant tourists strolling around like ourselves.

DSC01932.jpg

Starting off, we need to fill up fuel for our bodies. We were starting to get cranky and I was starting to make everything complicated for us. lol. and that for sure is the call of hunger.

So we decided to start exploring Downtown from Pike Place Market. Seattle’s so famous for it, who isn’t excited to see it? Here are some photos of how it looks like when you walk in. It is crowded.

This next photo reminds me a lot of how markets are back in the Philippines, and I can’t miss it enough. I wanna go home. asap. next blog, weekend in pinas. lol.

We had lunch at Lowell’s, right within Pike Place Market, and then we tried Seattle’s good old fish and chips and clam chowder. It was good, it wasn’t the best. here’s the view from where we ate. We forgot to take photos of our food, I feel like we just horked it down straight to our guts.

DSCF3066.jpg

Just in front of Pike’s Market kuya Don recommended that we don’t miss Beecher’s grilled cheese sandwich, it was said to be the best!

We chose not to wait long in line so we wanted to visit the Reserve Roastery instead, but on a Saturday, at noon, on a cold day, it was just as crowded.

DSCF3072.jpg

We walked around downtown searching for the famous gum wall, only to find out we already went past it so we had to go around. So now you know the need of our gluttonous activities. I do not recommend this guys. It’s bad. It’s a sin to overeat. Not only is it a rebellion against God, but also to thy body. Word.

DSCF3217.jpg

NOW FINALLY.

The most famous gum wall.

DSC01873.jpg

Walking down these corridors, it smelled like a mixed of flavors of gum, there was a sweet aroma tickling my olfactory sensory neurons, char! haha almost kinda fruity, just like how you would smell gum when you’re chewing it. So also mix that smell with saliva in the wild. haha.

So here are some photos of us, and cunningly hiding our shame bc our lame ass can’t blow a gum balloon. haha. losers. but we have to improvise, we still looked pretty cool. hahaha.

Here are extra bird’s eye views from Seattle’s Great Wheel. That is another experience for another entry.

For now, I hope you enjoyed reading through my virtual journal.

If you have tips for me on how I improve this. That would be awesome! Hit me up on facebook or instagram!

This was shot from Kerry Park a couple of minutes away from Seattle, and it’s just 3 minutes away from Meredith Grey’s House from Grey’s Anatomy!

You’re Welcome!

ONE DAY ITINERARY IN SEATTLE, WASHINGTON - DAY 1/2

Before I start, I just wanna say, some photos from this blog post is from my iPhone and may not have good quality, Some of my friends have been asking me about what are the places to see in Seattle, of course, with thorough (not really) research and friends’ recommendations, I have come to create the perfect Seattle destination itinerary in two days!

We started our journey early saturday morning, we decided to spend sunrise in Gasworks park, which according to Lake Union virtual museum is the world’s last remaining example of synthetic gas manufacturing plant. Although not much is known about this plantation because its record burned in the great Seattle fire of 1989.

Of course! What is this weather if I wouldn’t try to emote and remember all the heartbreaks I’ve had in the past, whether it be from the shows that I watch or in real life. haha.

DSC01580.jpg

This is the view of what is left from the old pipes of the plant, also, if you turn back and look behind you from this angle, sits Lake Union, that allows you to perfectly see Seattle’s skyline that literally took my breath away (bc of my lack of preparation for the cold and dry weather)

Didn’t I just said it took my breath away? I kid you not.

Didn’t I just said it took my breath away? I kid you not.

I just can’t get enough of how perfect the lighting was, so of course, I got to bring out the Asian in me, and feel my korean drama moment. lol

After being overwhelmed with the beauty of Gasworks park, we head over to the Troll under the bridge which is only 3-5minutes away. If you watch Once Upon a Time on ABC, they featured this in their pilot episode, that is why I wanted to see it.

You can skip this if you’re not a Netflixaholic like me. haha.

I have spent too much time watching TV series that is the reason why we had to stop by this next location, the University of Washington, Netflix recently released a docuseries about their alumnus, Ted Bundy.

Wala lang. I just felt like the weather would actually create a mysterious atmosphere, their campus’ architecture took me back in time and made me feel like I’m in Harvard or smart as students from Harvard. lol. It was rather eerie tho, to have walked the corridors and pathways as which a, or some killer have walked to and fro in the past, but just look at how beautiful the campus is and just imagine that vibe.

After touring around the UW, we stopped by Bruce Lee’s grave right across the church we were gonna go to, then we head down to Capitol Hills to grab some coffee, of course (see the rainbow crosswalks between Pike and Pine st. if my memory still serves me well) and a quick bite before we drive away from the city.

Try Seattle’s very own Dick’s Drive-In. They were still closed when we drove by.

If you’re someone who likes the wilderness, a quick drive from Seattle is Snoqualmie City, where the Twin Peak’s mystery TV show is filmed, its also the home of northwest’s railway museum. They’re also famous for the majestic Snoqualmie Falls. If you are equipped with waterproof hiking boots, windproof jackets and sure that you’re warm and healthy enough, I recommend hiking to the bottom of the falls and feel insignificant cause of its grandeur. You can download the ALL TRAILS APP for free, for the map and commentaries of may be avid hikers (this is not sponsored, but, you’re welcome!) but if you chose not to do that, worry not! bc this falls have a viewpoint deck that’s perfect for kids or grandparents!

Take the whole family with you! Here are some photos from the parking lot to the scenery. Have I not told you how I almost want to cry at first sight and feel of the Pacific Northwest? That happened again when I took these photos, especially with the fog effect and all. OMG. I was gonna die right there. huhu.

Its a good overwhelming feeling. Its the kind of moment you just want to seize and be in, forever.

Here are other photos of my photographer! I wanted to return the favor, I wish I could’ve done it better,

but I will be better!

DSCF3015.jpg

It was just 12pm when all that happened, sooo I need more time to organize and go over which SD card has my files. teehee.

Portraits for treats!

I like to edit my photos in that I recreate the sense of awe I had at that exact moment, the fresh atmosphere and giddiness or gloom it made me feel. I wish to convey that unique ambiance in these photographs. I also am a fan of analog film cameras so I try to edit as close to Kodak Portra or Agfa rolls, but can never fake it!

I wish I had more time to develop. (yes! I develop my own film hihi)

Taken at dawn on a foggy saturday morning, a short pacific northwest drizzle just before we stop by the church, we had to make the most out of our time. Here’s a nice diffused lighting weather, or as I would say in real life, “lakas maka-korean drama feels besh” lol

Makes me realize how much God really get us. As I bloom towards my career, life suddenly tilts to an uphill battle. A lot of successful people won’t disclose the emotional, mental, physical rollercoaster of transitioning into adulthood, that’s why I get why some people settle in mediocrity, despises the thriving nature of maturity and relaxes on stagnation.

It’s hard to balance being true to who you are and stressing about facts that day jobs will put you in difficult situations you’re too naive to handle, so you think becoming the ideal person you think is qualified would make your life better. If you do this, you will be proven otherwise. The phrase “fake it till you make it” doesn’t really sound right, cause unless you know what is lacking, unless you know what is wrong, will you be able to get it it right. There is a time for everything as it says in Ecclesiastes, God gets us, we are frail, and in this world, every emotion is valid. Maybe not indefinitely, but at least feel it intensely at least once, and move forward from there on. It’s so amazing how traveling and experiencing places makes you realize how much God wants to connect with you.

I hope you’d feel what Seattle made me feel in these photos. P.S. I tried :)

Devil’s punchbowl

Oregon Coast

I cling onto this quote, even in life, and I don’t believe that I only have one destiny, so I apply it too when traveling.

Its different each time, for everyone, of any gender and age, we perceive things differently and that’s what makes us unique. When we share the journey of our experiences with different people, there is a sense of thrill, a sense of anticipation as we are presented with unprecedented perspectives of looking into the same things but with another set of eyes, giving us a fresh and illuminating sense of wonder.

Those experiences, memories, shared moments, breathtaking emotions of euphoria and ecstasy, the look on the brighter side that are still in this life, is what I long to reveal and want to attach to every photograph.

I like to stimulate the senses of who is able to view my photographs and make them feel the ambiguous intensity of the impression I had when I was in that moment, witnessing the harmonious consolidation of nature’s finest. I hope I did a good job :)

Roadtrip to Cannon Beach

There is something about the beach they always say.

It’s indescribable.

Probably because its different for everyone, every time.

The cool breeze, the warm sand, the glow of the skin from direct sunlight that sometimes burn. The crashing of the waves that hits your emotions right on point. The humidity and the fresh air.

It’s perfect!

Especially for someone like me that was made in the tropics. That’s why I always find myself basking in the coast of California, also on my mind I want to believe that I’m a tad bit closer to home, knowing that the motherland is only on the other end of the Pacific. So I always wondered how the beach looks and feels like from Oregon’s point of view.

The first time I went to Oregon. It was short, and I just tagged along with a friend so I depended on his itinerary. haha. I didn’t know where to go or what I to see in there. I just wanted to hangout and catch up with my college friends.

To my surprise! Oregon has a LOT to offer! (Capslock for intensity lol) with that said, I knew that I’ll be back. So I keep coming back. I even see myself living there.

The next time I traveled to Oregon, I did my research, I created a busy itinerary. It’s also a good location scouting trip for upcoming film projects.

Cannon beach is something that I didn’t want to miss. It my our best decision. (As if I make good decisions on other days.)

Anyway, here are some photos of the coast as we walk towards to the popular iconic landmark of Cannon Beach,

the Haystack Rock transformation.

Here’s a part of the residence along the shore, I wasn’t able to take that much photos but I don’t mind because that proves how it made me seize the moment.

Now here’s the filmmaker in his element.

Tide pools are prominent around the area, so watch your steps!

Finally, got to see the Haystack Rock up close! And I’ve never felt more insignificant that ever!

That’s it for this entry! Yehey!
